The chicken and crescent almandine recipe brings together a delicious blend of flavors and textures for a completely self-contained meal that your guests will be talking about for weeks to come.
3 Cups cooked chicken breast (cut into small pieces)
1 (10 ¾ oz) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (8 oz) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
2/3 can mushrooms, stems and pieces
2/3 Cup Miracle Whip salad dressing
½ Cup chopped celery
½ Cup chopped onion
½ Cup sour cream
1 (8 oz) can refrigerator crescent dinner rolls
2/3 Cup (3 oz) shredded Swiss cheese
½ Cup slivered or sliced almonds
2-4 Tbsp. butter, melted
In a large saucepan, combine first 8 ingredients. Cook over medium heat until mixture is hot and bubbly. Pour into an ungreased 13x9 inch baking dish (pyrex is best). Separate crescent dough into 2 rectangles and place over hot chicken mixture until well covered. This will form a delicious baked crust. Combine remaining three ingredients (cheese, almonds, and melted butter) in a bowl and spread evenly over dough. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until curst is golden brown.
